So, it’s Jordan’s birthday.

He’s a guy who treasures friendship a lot. Lets just say instead of celebrating his birthday, it’s more like celebrating the friendship on his birthday. & I must attribute the success of this birthday dinner to all our friends. I know this wouldn’t happen without any of you.

My little sister, & Calvin.
a (2)

MK, & her boy Terry.
a (4)

His bros. Thank you so much, all of you.
For being there for us, all the time.

It’s indeed a blessing to have all of you in our life.
a (5)

The Lim’s sister.

We don’t always get to see them, but they have always been there.
& that spells F-R-I-E-N-D-S-H-I-P.

So yea, I sure have been wrecking my brain on where to dine on his birthday. After a lot of research, I decided to go to The Soprano’s – Italian-German Restaurant @ Newcom Building, Old Klang Road.

When Jordan saw “Grimbergen” while flipping through the menu, he was like.. “Dear, dear, they have grimbergen!!” Followed by a big wide smile. (chose a German’s retaurant in purpose, because I know that’ll put an irresistible smile on his face, & that’s my ultimate goal; So long he is happy.)

It is his favorite beer.
This is also the beer that got his started to have the asian flush.

Half moon pizza/calzone.
I couldn’t remember the name of this.

One half of this pizza was a simple Margherita with tomato sauce & mozzarella cheese.
a (8)

The other half was folded over and stuffed with a lot of cheese, ham, ricotta, & basil. It’s such a clever pizza combination. Extremely savory & yummy.
a (9)

To be honest, it was their kitchen-made fresh pasta that first attracted me.
We ordered Carbonara. The spaghetti is very tender, while the sauce is rich & satisfying!

Simply so good!
a (10)

The spaghetti in bag. Linguine al Cartoccio – pasta with mixed seafood (mussels, scallops, prawns, plus fish, calamari & clams), sauteed again in a cherry tomato sauce.

When the bag is opened on the table, the hot steam immediately poured out.

I would say this is the best I had that night. It looks extremely good, & the taste too didn’t fall short in term of quality. The combination of the sweetness & freshness of the seafood, and the richness of tomato sauce gave it a great depht of flavor. I was astonished at the flavor.
b (2)

Spectacular and delicious, I would definitely be back for this.
b (5)

Pizza Alla Bismark, pizza topped with a raw egg, which after cooking it becomes a sunny side up in the middle of your pizza. The runny yolk mixed in with the ham and cheese was a superb combination.
a (11)

Look at the cheese yo!
a (12)

Char-grilled lamb chops with black pepper sauce, served with mashed potatoes.
I don’t eat lamb, couldn’t comment on this. But they say, it’s good.
a (13)

Well, it does looks good.
a (14)

Baby Rippen, baby pork ribs flooded with a sweet bbq-maple glaze, alongside pan-fried potatoes, red cabbage and coleslaw. For this, nothing amazingly good to shout about. It is very ordinary.
b (4)

The German Pork Knuckle. It is humongous, and every surface was covered in crunchy crackling. It isn’t one of the best I had. But it was not too bad, crispy skin, & tender meat. Pretty decent.
a (15)

So, this is the BIG-WIDE-SMILE. haha.
My wish for you on your birthday is that you are, and will always be, happy and healthy!

The birthday boy, & his SQUIDWARD birthday cake.

Happy Birthday, to my soul mate, my partner and my most trusted friend.
I’m glad you are a part of my life. With each year I’ll love you more.
b (6)

Friends that make effort to be there on your big day;
Remember that you are loved and appreciated by all of us, always.
b (7)

Handmade this cake specially for him together with the little sister, because we thought he looks a lot like squidward. His nose, especially. Hehehe.
b (8)

Your best years are still ahead of you;
and, I promise that I will definitely be there for every ups & downs and in between.
b (9)

I am always thankful for you, to always there for me whenever I need a shoulder to lean on.
b (10)

I am brought up in a family, where my dad and mom have never missed any of our birthday. For the past twenty over years, my parents have been putting in countless effort every year to celebrate our birthday, to remind us on how much we’ve grown. & us siblings, we can’t be anymore grateful.

Hence, I always think birthdays are worth celebrating. It is a day where we show & receive extra loves, doing more than what we usually do to celebrate the existence of an individual who meant so much to us. As we grown older, the busy schedule has completely took over us. But on birthday, we will need to squeeze out time & go extra miles to do something special for the one you love. (hello, it’s only once a year!)
b (11)

I chose to work on handmade cards every time, as it is something worth keeping.
I still keep the birthday card mom gave me when I was 7, & it meant so much to me now as I grow older.
b (12)

Birthday, to me, it’s about Gratitude. It is the day, we celebrate & acknowledge the existence of the person whom we love in our life, & for everything they’ve done for us.

How about you?
What does birthday mean to you?
